This artwork is a result on part of predictions in ASN whether the next Firelord will be male or female. opinions are torn though; equal on both male and female sides. this is also a concept of what a female Firelord would look like.

i finally decided her name will be Suzaku, after a fiery bird in Chinese mythology. i want to connect her a bit to Zuko's past, wherein she is the second born, and her name is a nod to Zuko's father, Ozai (the Phoenix king) hence the name. it also fits the Royal family tradition of having Zs in their names, and it sounds feminine enough.

this is one of two versions where the other is colored [link] because honestly, i don't know which to pick. i was aiming for old photography in this one, but upon experimenting with colors, the colored one looks good too.
